anthropomorphism

thinking of inanimate objects (such as cars, toys, etc.), animals, gods, or natural phenomena as human by attributing to them human emotions, characteristics, or behavior (Ex: "my computer hates me" is an example of anthropomorphism)

arbitrate

The verb arbitrate:
  • act between parties with a view to reconciling differences
The noun arbitration:
  1. the act of deciding as an arbiter; giving authoritative judgment
  2. (law) the hearing and determination of a dispute by an impartial referee agreed to by both parties (often used to settle disputes between labor and management)
The noun arbiter and arbitrator:
  • someone chosen to judge and decide a disputed issue

assert:
  1. declare or affirm solemnly and formally as true
  2. insist on having one's opinions and rights recognized
assertion:
  1. the act of affirming or asserting or stating something
  2. a declaration that is made emphatically (as if no supporting evidence were necessary)

awl

An awl is a long, sharp, pointed tool that is used to make a hole in something, as wood, leather, etc.
